Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

-1 Peter 5:2-3

We are uniquely blessed to have H.C. Pennel as our minister. H.C. grew up in Fairfax Mo where his family has a farm. It was in this town that H.C. met and married his wife Kathy in 1973. Through this union they had three children, Jeremy, who is married to Alma, they have two children; Jennifer who lives in Nashville Tennessee; and Josh who is married to Samantha, they have one daughter named Lexis.

H.C. earned his degree at Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver and then moved to Pratt, KS where he began his work as a minister for the Pratt Church of Christ. After a year in Kansas, H.C. and Kathy came to live in Fulton in November, 2001.

H.C. has all the traits needed in a strong minister: excellent teaching and preaching abilities, a tendency for generous service, and a genuine concern for lost souls. Particularly important for our growing congregation is his ability to effectively deal with a large variety of people.

When he's not teaching, preaching, or sharing his time with our many members, their families, and area visitors, you'll find H.C. hunting, fishing, remodeling homes or traveling with Kathy to see their three children.

Kathy is the coordinator for Open Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center in Fulton. Her main hobby is taking care of H.C. Kathy and H.C. both are active in the local Rotary Club.
